The VGC held its last trial for the year back to back with the Golden Retriever Club on Saturday 1st September. It was a cold, wet and very muddy day but we completed all the stakes in good time without mishap. Leanne Tormey provided very welcome hot soup and toasted sandwiches to ward off the cold. We would like to thank the property owner and the Golden Retriever Club for supplying the property and equipment as needed. Thank you to Trevor Stevens who forfeited his entry to assist in judging the All Age due to the large number of entries (28).

A very big thank you to the people (not Committee members) who helped get the trial off the ground: Peter Doley, Lyn Wyse, Bob Tawton, Trevor Stow, Neville Bawden, Di Vapp and Jeanne Roberts. In the absence of our Trial Secretary Sally Haynes without them the trial would not have been possible. Also thank you to all the competitors who willingly stewarded and to Chris Van Eecklen, Judy Johnson and Neville who were not competing and stewarded all day.

We have had to cancel the Retrieving Trial scheduled for the weekend of 14/15 July 2018. Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted.

The trial was held in the Beaufort area mainly in stubble and finishing in grass for the Open. We would like to thank the Novice judge Terry Loft and David Blacker for stewarding . David Blacker then judged the Open with Paul stewarding all day - thank you both. The family who own the property went out of their way to ensure we could run this trial and others during the year. It hard to express enough appreciation for their support of our sport. Without farmers like these we would not be able to run field trials.
